More than anything else, books gave shape and impetus to the postwar American conservative intellectual movement. Indeed, books continue to be the locus where conservative ideas are best explored, developed, refined, debated, and analyzed. ISI believes strongly that the nurturance of both the mind and heart depends today as much as ever upon the publication of thoughtful books that delve beyond politics to the principles that sustain genuine liberty.
ISI Books’ hallmark is to approach intellectually challenging subjects in a style that is accessible to the average intelligent reader, avoiding both dumbing-down and unnecessary jargon. Publishing approximately twenty-four titles per year, our roster of authors is impressive, including thinkers such as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, Paul Hollander, Robert P. George, Russell Hittinger, William Dembski, George Nash, Harvey Mansfield, Ralph McInerny, Israel Kirzner, Allan Carlson, Peter Lawler, Joseph Pearce, Roger Scruton, Russell Kirk, and John Lukacs. It regularly publishes new editions of classic titles by authors such as Orestes Brownson, Philip Rieff, Romano Guardini, Wilhelm Ropke, and Richard Weaver. And it is also committed to facilitating trans-Atlantic cultural communication by publishing today’s most insightful European intellectuals, such as Chantal Delsol, Alain Besancon, and Pierre Manent.
ISI Books is the imprint of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, and we welcome--indeed depend upon--the financial support of our readers. So take some time to explore our offerings, and if you feel inspired, let us know what you think of our work.
