Power and Petroleum

This wake-up call by a former Venezuelan resident argues that Hugo Chavez of Venezuela is the successor to Fidel Castro as the enemy of the United States in the Western Hemisphere, and that Chavez's intentions include absorbing Colombia and co-operating with China.

Emma Brossard grew up and worked in the oil industry in Venezuela. Her first book, Petroleum Politics and Power, was published in 1983. For eighteen years, Prof. Brossard taught political philosophy, Latin American politics, and energy politics in several Midwestern and Southern universities. Her Ph.D. is from Claremont Graduate University.
